Sweet Pea Books

Second hand books about sweet peas are hard to find, and new ones are published very infrequently these days. There seem to have been periods when such books were all the rage, 1901 - 1916, 1926 - 1930, 1949 - 1965, and a good selection of titles must have been available both in the UK and the USA. At present, however, we are less fortunate, and there is an increasing interest in these earlier books. Although our knowledge of sweet peas increases steadily, the books from the 1950s still offer sound guidance on most aspects of cultivation, while the earlier publications offer a fascinating insight into the period when sweet pea fever was at its height. We have a few copies surplus to our own collection and are pleased to offer them to our customers. The books are generally in good condition, but the older volumes in particular tend to have the binding somewhat faded, and some brown spotting ("foxing") especially of the endpapers. Dust jackets may be worn or absent, but text and illustrations are complete and clean.
